Brantome is an idyllic town located to the north of Perigueux on the banks of the River Dronne.
The town is known locally as the Venice of Perigord, the Dronne river runs through the town with the beautiful Benedictine Abbey laying on the north bank. The town is surrounded by parks and gardens and traditional Perigord houses are built of local stone.

Perigueux situated 20km from Brantome is the capital of the Dordogne Department. There is a roman and medieval part to the town as well as a cathedral and worth a visit.
Market days are Wednesday and Saturday.
Chateau de Puyguilhem is set in a
sweeping open valley of meadows and an oak forest typical of the Perigord
region is only 7km from Brantome.
Saint-Jean-de-cole is a very attractive village set on the banks of the Cole river
and boasts a castle, large church and a priory.
